He could hear them

They screamed his name

He shivered

He looked around

He saw no one

He could feel their presence

He could hear them

He cringed

One had a shrill voice

Two whispered

The others were deep groans

It sent shivers down his spine

His eyes were wide open

He looked around in horror

Why was he hearing them?

Where was it coming from?

Where were they hiding?

Why were they calling out his name?

Who were they?

He felt the warm liquid trickle down his legs

His own waste

What was happening to him?

Was it his past?

Was it his sins?

He killed her ten years ago

Why was he being tormented now?

No one knew

He told no one…

Who were they?

He heard them chorus his name again

The voices were getting louder

He could feel the goose bumps on his skin

His heart was racing like a wild bull

Everything seemed surreal

But it was really happening!

He panicked

He shivered

He screamed

Hoping to drown their voices with his scream

Everything went quiet

And just when he thought it was over

He heard them again

And closer!

He looked around

And then he saw them

Right in front of him

He froze in fear

He could taste his own fear

It tasted sour and toxic

Immediately, he shut his eyes

And breathed his last

Welcoming death with a warm embrace

What a relief!

Or so he thought…

A little love

A little care

A little food

A little of what you have

Just a little to quench this thirst

A little, my dear

I see you complain of that which you have

I hear you complain that it’s not exactly what you want

If only I could have just a little

If only I could sip a little

To quench this thirst

If only I could nibble a little

And quench this probing hunger

If only I could rest a little

Under the mango tree you care not for

If only I could lie down a little

On that bed you hate so dearly

If only I could laugh a little

At the jokes you no longer find funny

If only I could live a little

This life you take for granted

And maybe enjoy a little of this health you don’t even notice you have

Good health I do seek for

To have a little of what you have

To sit under the roof of this house you no longer desire

To hear your little ones babble and laugh

This you no longer have time for

I hear them ask for you every day

But you are never around

If only you could see

Truly open your eyes

And notice how fast the clock ticks

Not slow

Every second you lament

You lose a moment

A moment you shouldn’t have lost

You lose a moment to give thanks

A moment to laugh a little

A moment to live a little

If only you can hear the clock

Truly hear the clock tell the time

Oh, it speaks!

Tick-tock. . .tick-tock

Time goes. . . Time goes

Open your eyes, precious one

See how fast the clock ticks

It speaks!

Smile more

Love more

Laugh more

Live more

Love some more

Live some more

Tick-tock. . .tick-tock

Here I am

But I’m here

I hear you

I’m listening!

I’m listening!!!

“No, you are not. Listen”

I don’t understand

I’m here

I’m listening!

Ok. I’ll be quiet for a minute

I’m listening!

But I don’t know what to expect

What are you saying?

I’m listening!

“No, you are not. Listen”

But, I’m listennnnnnnniiiiiing!

“No, you are not. Listen.”

“If you were listening you would have heard The Message.”

But, I’m listening

“Yes, now you are listening.”

So, what’s the message?

*Looks around in frustration.*

*Walks away*

Let Me Weep

Let me weep.jpg

Let me weep

Let me weep that I may be satisfied

That I may flush out this pain deep within

Deep within my heart

This pain that causes me to…ohhhh!

This pain!

Birthed from betrayal, loss and grief

Let me weep!

Let me weep and rid myself of this filth

I don’t wish to choke

I just want to purge myself of this yoke

It’s heavy and it’s…it’s heavy!

It’s been five days now

And it’s been weighing me down

I feel twenty pounds heavier

Let me weep!

Let me get rid of this yoke!

It’s heavy!

Let the dam break

Let the tears pour

Oh, let them pour!

My heart weeps

My eyes leak

Let me weep until I can weep no more

Let me weep!

She tore the envelope open

And she read

Suddenly the clock stopped

Everything around her felt nonexistent

She couldn’t think

All she could see was his face

Her hands went numb

As the paper fell to the ground

Memories played

Like a movie being fast-forwarded

She saw pictures of his face move quickly in her head

Her lips moved

But they made no sound

She tried to say his name

But the pain in her throat wouldn’t let her

Suddenly the morning turned to evening

The joy turned to sorrow

The smile turned to tears

Her heart broke

She screamed but no sound was heard

Her face felt hot

But her fingers were cold

She wept!

Finally, she found her voice

She croaked his name

But no one replied

He wasn’t there with her

But she knew that he would never call her, “Nne m”

Her son had gone to bed

To never wake up again

Little Writer Girl

I see your pain

You sit in the shadows

You pour out your heart in ink

Your sheet is filled

Your lips may be pink

But you speak no words

All you do is sink!

You sink into an abyss of sorrow

You glance at the mirror and see another

A wrong reflection!

You see the “you” you are creating

A picture of a girl lost in the woods

A child forgotten

A lion injured

You sit on your favorite chair

You spill ink like blood

You stain the sheets of white

Every word tells its own tale

You block out the world

And dish out words

You are disappearing with every written word

You don’t even know it

I see the art

But the image of you is faded

I squint to really see you

But it’s blurry

Where are you?!!

Where is the girl I used to know!!!

Come back home!!!

Don’t be lost in the world you are creating

You are needed here too

Don’t relocate to your world of fiction

Someone here needs you to be great

Someone needs you to see herself clearly

But you are far away

Your words remain

But you are fading

What’s going on?

Wake up, Writer Girl!

Come back home!

Love awaits you on this side

Love you will never see if you fade away

Love you deserve

Love you don’t need to earn

Come back, Writer Girl!

Come home!

Search for me if you wish

Great and sound words I’ll teach

A path to truth I’ll lead

I’ll pull out the weeds

To give you counsel so priceless

All because of me you’ll be fearless

See how you glow in the dark

I’ll make you leave a mark

They might envy

They are all folly-savvy

Don’t let them break your spirit

Don’t let them make you retreat

Move closer and let me teach you a thing or two

I’m not too far…put on your shoes

I’ll bring you great wealth

I’ll teach you how to live in good health

I’ll make you lead great nations

And give you the antidote to all situations

Take a step closer

Let me introduce myself to you

“My name is Wisdom

Heed to my instructions

And I’ll protect you”

i do2

I do

Only to you I do

You have no clue

How much I love you

I mean it when I say I do

Even in those moments when I don’t feel so

I still do

To you I do

Forever I do

I pledge my heart to you

Forever I love you

Who knew I would love you

To the point of “I do”

Well, here I am saying, “I do”

To serve you and only you

To cherish you and only you

To love you and only you

To laugh with you

To walk with you

To have kids with you

To grow old with you

Here I am with you

At the altar again…me and you

Renewing my vows to you

You know I do…

I do love you and only you!

He had her just where he wanted her

Naked and helpless

Her lips were quivering

He could smell her fear

It smelled like “prey”

He could smell himself

He smelled like “lust”

Stunk like sin!

But he didn’t care

He saw her lying on the floor

She was begging

Begging for freedom

Her words were quiet and weak

His punches and blows had weakened her

His kicks had paralyzed her

Her full lips were now bruised

Well, he didn’t need them!

He looked at her swollen eyes

She was crying but he felt no mercy

He had one mission

He had one goal

To devour and be satisfied

He was the predator

And she was the perfect prey

As he unbuckled his pants to fulfill his lust

He felt a blow from behind…HIS HEAD!!!

He froze!

He felt the heat spread from his head

Right down to his toes

Something warm trickled down his back

And, just before the pain enveloped his entire being

He blacked out!
